OOTD: Army Style

 Jacket-Thrift Store
Shirt-Gifted
Skirt-Papaya
Shoes-Gifted

Around here we eat suckers while doing photo shoots :D

I spotted this jacket at a thrift store the other day, tried it on, and put it back where I got it. I just wasn't sure if I wanted to spend all that money. A whole $6.
Well, as you can see I changed my mind! And I'm glad I did!
This was actually in the men's section and my husband found it.
I love it!
Thrifting for the win!

Trying New Things

 Story Time!!!

I don't ever do posts like this, but I'm keeping with the theme of trying out new things...so why not a new kind of post???

So this story starts with me playing the french horn I guess?? Weird. I know. I can't imagine it either. But I was a younger version of myself and thought the french horn looked cool, and still to this day I can pick it out in songs and hear how absolutely beautiful it is. If you know what it sounds like then you know! Right?? It's that really clear smooth trumpet sounding instrument, but it's way better than the trumpet (sorry trumpet).

Well, I quit playing it because 1) a horrible music teacher and 2) I had no passion for it.
When I picked it up all I could think was 'this thing is huge and heavy and impossible to play! I have no skills with this!'

Fast forward to me wanting to play an instrument so I can sing on my YouTube channel? What? I don't know. That's the idea. Maybe do a cover?
But I don't have a guitar and I tried learning that once and it was not fun! I didn't want to learn all the things.
Strum like this. Here's the name of the strings...blah blah blah. I just wanted to play a song.

It never occurred to me that I could teach myself and also that I might just learn differently. If it's not fun and I'm not creating right away I don't want to do it! And a lot of people would say 'then you'll never learn anything Christina'.

No.
No.

Not true.

Yesterday I found a ukulele in our house. I think it's my father-in-laws.
I thought 'well I could try to learn this but I'll hate it.'
Also trying new things can seem really freaking difficult. I can't remember the last time I tried something I thought I would fail at.
Have you done that recently?
I honestly thought I would try and get flustered and fail.

But I tried.
And guess what???
I can play a whole song.
And it's not Mary Had A Little Lamb. LOL
It's an actual song that I love and when my husband came home I said LISTEN!!

And he listened to me play the song horribly and I felt so proud of myself!
It took 2 hours.
I thought I would fail. But what do you know??

I can now play the ukulele.
Kinda.
And I'm on OK singer. So maybe someday I'll do a song on my YouTube for fun.
My mom would love that.

What have you tried recently that you thought you would fail at?

:D

Jellies and Hair Chalk

"And when we come for you
We'll be dressed up all in blue
With the ocean in our arms
Kiss your eyes and kiss your palms"
Florence + The Machine's 'Spectrum'

Another photo-shoot-y blog post???

Yes.
Another.
I've been super inspired by crazy lip colors so why not? For this look I have ColourPop's Ultra Matte Lip in 'Jellies'. It's an awesome dark blue color.
and Splat's hair chalk in the color's: 'Dusty Rose', 'Mint Candy', and 'Silver Moon'.

I am so wishing my hair was actually these colors! How cool would that be??? These hair chalks are super easy to use and super pigmented so you get a really cool effect when you run it down your hair!
The two colors 'Mint Candy' and 'Silver Moon' are really similar though. I don't even think I can tell a difference in the pictures, but that's OK. Silver Moon has a ton of sparkles in it!

The dress was a gift from Jason and is from Forever21. The pearl collar is cute, and I paired it with that pearl necklace that is being used as a bracelet.
The lip color is quite striking. I love how ColourPop has so many unique lip colors and their matte lippies feel really nice on the lips. Not too drying and comfortable to wear.

Laying down pictures are difficult. This really doesn't have anything to do with the makeup...but...like...have you ever done this? I was seriously thinking I must look like a psycho because for some reason I can't control my face when I lay down!

Anyways! Have you tried ColourPop yet??? I totally recommend their products.
AND should I dye my hair like this??? :D :D

"I found solace in the strangest place
Way in the back of my mind
I saw my life in a stranger's face
And it was mine"
Sia's Song 'Alive'

I went out and took these pics on New Years Eve. It was pretty fun! I didn't have much planned for that night, but we went downtown where it's all lit up for Christmas, and there were lots of people hanging out.

My husband surprised me with this dress a few days after Christmas because he is awesome and knows my style too well! I really like the collar and how it can pop out of a sweater to add a little cutesy vibe.

"That's why her hair is so big. It's full of secrets!" -Mean Girls

I don't know why but the more I don't wash my hair the bigger it gets! But maybe it is full of secrets!
My lip color here is ColourPop's 'Grunge' and I love it! It's such a pretty dark nude color! I'm thinking of doing a makeup tutorial with it over on my YouTube

 Happy New Year!

I hope 2016 is everything you hope it will be.
